Multi-stakeholder governance is at the heart of the ISCC System and ISCC Association. Since our foundation, a diverse range of international stakeholders – from education and research, industry and the public sector – have contributed to our continuous development.

The ISCC Association

The ISCC Association is the legally registered body responsible for the governance and strategic development of the ISCC System. Association Members advance the sustainability certification framework by driving stakeholder dialogue and through their decision-making institutions, the ISCC Board and the general assembly.

Stakeholder engagement

Our stakeholders include Association Members, System Users, and Certification Bodies. We encourage active stakeholder engagement through participation in stakeholder conferences, working groups, and projects, or by giving feedback to the system, either through public consultation or direct contact with our system managers. We welcome new members to the ISCC Association who share our mission and vision.

Driving sustainability certification through continuous stakeholder engagement

The ISCC Board

Eight members representing three key stakeholder groups make up the ISCC Board.

  • Raw material producers and processors
  • Trade, logistics and other system users
  • NGOs, social sector, science and research, public sector

 

The ISCC Board, governed by the chair and vice-chair(s), manages the affairs of the ISCC Association in accordance with the ISCC statutes and the by-laws, and advises on the strategic development of the ISCC System. The board may establish stakeholder committees to facilitate regional and technical stakeholder dialogue and to support ISCC in the handling of specific topics.

The General Assembly

ISCC Association Members meet annually at the general assembly to elect the ISCC Board and to discuss and vote on topics of strategic interest. Each member has one vote.

The development and implementation of the ISCC certification systems, as well as the management and undertaking of the day-to-day operations take place within the ISCC System GmbH.
