ISCC sustainability principles: launch of open review and dedicated working group

The ISCC Principles 1–6 for the sustainable sourcing of agricultural raw materials are the foundation on which ISCC is built. While Principle 1 is largely defined by regulatory requirements, Principles 2–6 provide more flexibility in their configuration.

Our system documents are regularly reviewed to ensure our certification requirements meet the latest standards and expectations. That is why we are pleased to announce the launch of an open review process for ISCC Principles 2–6, alongside the creation of a dedicated stakeholder working group to further develop and refine these requirements.

Building on a strong foundation

ISCC Principles 2–6 form a core part of our sustainability framework. They go beyond regulatory requirements and reflect best practices across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Covering environmentally responsible production, safe working conditions, human and labour rights, land use, and good management practices, these principles support sustainable production while strengthening resilience and long-term value creation.

Open review of sustainability principles

Our objective is to simplify and clarify existing requirements and audit procedures, reducing complexity, improving usability, and strengthening system integrity.

Whether you are an ISCC System User, Certification Body, Brand Owner, NGO, or policymaker, we invite all interested stakeholders to share their input. Your feedback is essential to ensure that ISCC requirements respond to growing market expectations and align with current and upcoming regulatory requirements.

Review ISCC Principles 2–6

The initial review phase, during which feedback is collected, will remain open until 31 August 2026. You can share your feedback in one of two ways: either through a structured survey or informally via email – whichever you prefer.

Dedicated sustainability requirements working group

Alongside the open review, we are establishing a dedicated working group focused specifically on ISCC Principles 2–6. This group will play a key role in supporting and accompanying the systematic review of the ISCC sustainability requirements by bringing together stakeholder perspectives from across the industry. It aims to identify areas for refinement and to ensure that the system remains fit for purpose in light of evolving market needs and regulatory developments.

The first working group meeting will take place on 30 June, marking the start of a structured and collaborative development process. Please note that the working group will be limited to 30 participants, chosen proportionally across geographies, industries, and crops.

Apply for working group participation

The deadline for applications is 12 June 2026. If you are an ISCC Association Member, please apply via the application form in the ISCC client section (login required). Everyone else, please apply by writing an email including a few sentences on your motivation and background.
