ISCC CORSIA

We support the aviation industry in reducing GHG emissions through our established ISCC CORSIA certification system for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Recognised by ICAO, ISCC CORSIA enables operators to meet offsetting requirements by ensuring compliance with sustainability, traceability, and life cycle assessment (LCA) criteria for CORSIA eligible fuels.

Recognised by ICAO for CORSIA-eligible fuels

The pressing need to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has been acknowledged by both the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the aviation industry. In response, ICAO Member States have committed to ambitious targets aimed at curbing emissions from air transportation. Among these is a collective long-term global aspirational goal (LTAG) to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. CORSIA, the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, is ICAO’s instrument to address the increase in GHG emissions from aviation.

Benefits of ISCC CORSIA

Credit Transfer System

SAF suppliers, aircraft operators, logistics providers, and end-customers can track and allocate sustainability benefits associated with SAF use with the ISCC Credit Transfer System.

Experience and expertise

ISCC is the leading sustainability certification system for SAF with vast experience in the aviation industry.

With ISCC CORSIA, economic operators gain access to global markets by showing compliance with CORSIA requirements.

Tracking of life cycle emissions

We provide the methodology, rules and guidelines for calculating, reporting and verifying emissions reductions.

Traceability throughout the supply chain

The ISCC CORSIA certification system allows you to track and trace the flow of alternative materials throughout the supply chain.

Get ISCC CORSIA certified

Getting certified with ISCC follows a clear, structured process. We guide you step by step, from identifying the right certification scheme to receiving your certificate and handling certified material in line with ISCC requirements.

Explore the Credit Transfer System

Allowing SAF suppliers, aircraft operators, logistics providers, and end customers to confidently track, transfer, and report their emissions reductions for credible climate disclosures.

Our document library

Explore our library to find all relevant system documents, guidance, templates and supporting materials in one place.

Whether you are preparing for certification or looking for requirements, our library provides the most up-to-date documents to support your work.

Alternative feedstocks

The basis of every ISCC CORSIA certification is the use of alternative feedstocks. These can be waste and residues or sustainably grown agricultural raw materials that qualify for certification under CORSIA. The eligibility of these materials for certification is determined by ICAO.

Agricultural biomass

Certification under ISCC CORSIA ensures compliance with the approved CORSIA sustainability criteria, including low life cycle emissions, the protection of high carbon stock lands and the production's impact on water, soil air, conservation, human rights, social development and food security.

Under ISCC CORSIA PLUS, additional requirements for farms and plantations must be met which are laid down in the form of six principles covering environmental, social and economic sustainability aspects.

Waste and residues

The ICAO Council agreed on a positive list of feedstocks that have been classified as by-product, wastes and residues. Waste and residues are defined as materials that have reached the end of its intended life cycle. By-products are secondary products with little economic value and an inelastic supply.

Acceptance of other schemes

  • Acceptance of all ICAO CORSIA recognised schemes (under ISCC CORSIA).
  • Acceptance of other schemes under ISCC CORSIA PLUS subject to positive benchmarking.
