Auditor Training Pathway

General requirements

Regardless of their operational area, all ISCC Auditors must meet the general qualification requirements to conduct ISCC audits. These requirements are set out in ISCC System Document 103 for ISCC EU and ISCC System Document 103 for ISCC PLUS (including the complementary System Updates), both titled Requirements for Auditors and Certification Bodies and available in the ISCC document library. Depending on the types of entities they audit, ISCC auditors must also meet additional qualification requirements.

Follow these steps to become an ISCC trained auditor:

Select the scheme

Choose the ISCC scheme you want to audit and review the applicable qualification requirements.

Complete core training

Gain the fundamental knowledge required for auditing entities of your chosen scheme. Pass the online test and receive your official auditor qualification attestation.

Complete advanced training

Select relevant advanced training courses depending on the technical topics and additional requirements. Pass the online test and receive your official auditor qualification attestation.

ISCC EU – Core requirement

Before conducting ISCC EU audits, prospective auditors must meet specific qualification requirements. These include the successful completion of the EU Training, as well as passing the corresponding online test.

 

Since 1 January 2025, requalification is required every 3 years to ensure knowledge remains current and up to date. 

 

Qualifications obtained before 1 January 2025 remain valid for five years.

 

Before conducting ISCC EU audits, auditors must:

  • complete the on-demand introductory module, 
  • fully attend and actively participate in the two live-online days of the EU Training, and
  • pass the subsequent online test within eight weeks of enrolment (up to three attempts).

Attendance is monitored and completion of all training elements is mandatory. The auditor qualification is valid for 3 years from the date the test is passed.

Additional requirements under ISCC EU

ISCC EU: Waste and residues

 

Before conducting ISCC EU audits of entities producing or handling wastes and residues, auditors must:

  • successfully complete the EU Training, and
  • successfully complete the EU Waste and Residues Training.

ISCC EU: GHG emissions

 

Before auditing individual greenhouse gas emissions calculations under ISCC EU, all auditors must:

  • successfully complete the EU Training, and
  • successfully complete the EU GHG Advanced Training.

ISCC EU: Renewable fuels of non-biological origins & recycled carbon fuels

 

Before conducting ISCC EU audits of entities producing or handling RFNBOs or RCFs, all auditors must must meet the following qualification criteria:

  • successfully complete the EU Training, and
  • successfully complete the RFNBO & RCF Training.

ISCC EU: Co-processing

 

Before certifying co-processed fuels, auditors must:

  • successfully complete the EU Training, and
  • successfully complete the EU Co-processing Training.

ISCC EU: EUDR add-on

 

Before conducting ISCC EU audits in combination with the EUDR add-on, auditors must:

  • successfully complete the EU Training, and
  • successfully complete the EUDR Add-on Training.

ISCC EU: Regenerative agriculture add-on

 

Before conducting ISCC EU audits in combination with the regenerative agriculture add-on, auditors must:

  • successfully complete the EU Training, and
  • successfully complete the Regenerative Agriculture Add-on Training.

ISCC EU: Biomethane

 

Currently, there are no additional auditor requirements.

 

However, the EU Biomethane Training provides valuable background knowledge on biomethane supply chains, traceability, mass balance and PoS handling, and may support auditors in better understanding ISCC EU requirements. The training will become mandatory for auditors in the future.

ISCC EU: Improved Biodiesel Plant Audit Procedure

 

Currently, there are no additional auditor requirements.

 

However, the EU Improved Biodiesel Plant Audit Procedure Training is designed to help ISCC Auditors and System Users prepare for the implementation of the ISCC EU Improved Biodiesel Plant Audit Procedure. The training will become mandatory for auditors in the future.

Before conducting ISCC PLUS audits, prospective auditors must meet specific qualification requirements. These include the successful completion of the ISCC PLUS Training, as well as passing the corresponding online test.

Additional requirements under ISCC PLUS

ISCC PLUS: Waste and residues

 

There are no additional auditor requirements under ISCC PLUS.

 

Audit requirements for entities handling wastes and residues are covered in the PLUS Training.

ISCC PLUS: GHG emissions

ISCC CORSIA – Core requirement

Before conducting ISCC CORSIA audits, prospective auditors must meet specific qualification requirements.

Additional requirements under ISCC CORSIA

There are no additional requirements for auditors under ISCC CORSIA.

ISCC CFC – Core requirement

Before conducting ISCC CFC audits, prospective auditors must meet specific qualification requirements. The auditor qualification is valid for three years from the date the test is passed. 

 

Before conducting ISCC CFC audits, auditors must:

  • successfully complete the CFC Training, and
  • pass the online test within eight weeks of enrolment (up to three attempts).

Attendance is monitored and completion of all training elements is mandatory. The auditor qualification is valid for 3 years from the date the test is passed.

Additional requirements under ISCC CFC

There are no additional requirements for auditors under ISCC CFC.
