ISCC schemes are officially recognised across key sectors, including the energy and fuels markets, various industrial applications, as well as the food and feed branch, demonstrating their alignment with established sustainability requirements.

European Union

ISCC EU is recognised by the European Commission to be compliant with the revised Renewable Energy Directive (RED III). Since 2011, the Renewable Energy Directive provides the legal framework for the implementation of renewable energy targets in the European Union.

United Kingdom

ISCC EU received approval by the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) to provide compliance with the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate.

Japan

The Japanese Government recognises ISCC to verify compliance with biofuel sustainability requirements. Additionally, the Japanese Ministry of Trade and Industry (METI) recognises ISCC Japan FIT certification for materials eligible under the Japan FIT scheme, which obligates electricity producers in Japan to purchase power from renewable sources (e.g., biomass, wind, solar).

Netherlands

ISCC EU complies with the Dutch SDE++ biomass scheme (subsidie duurzame energie). System Users can demonstrate compliance with the criteria for solid biomass for energy applications in the Netherlands via ISCC EU.

Queensland (Australia)

ISCC is in compliance with the Liquid Fuel Supply Regulation of Queensland. The Liquid Fuel Supply Regulation 2016 sets sustainability criteria for biofuels sold under Queensland’s biofuels mandate.

Poland

ISCC is registered as a certification system administrator by the Polish Agricultural Market Agency (ARR). With this registration, ISCC fulfils the formal and legal requirements for certification schemes to operate as a certification system in Poland.

ICAO

ISCC CORSIA is recognised under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has confirmed that ISCC Canada CFR meets the requirements for certification under section 62 of Canada’s CFR.

Blue Angel

The ecolabel Blue Angel (“Der Blaue Engel”) of the federal government of Germany has accepted ISCC for bioplastic granulate for writing implements and stamps. The Blue Angel sets high standards for environmentally friendly product design and has proven itself over the past 40 years as a reliable guide for more sustainable consumption.

Initiative for Sustainable Supply of Raw Materials for the Industrial Use of Biomass (INRO)

ISCC is recognised by the German “Initiative for Sustainable Supply of Raw Materials for the Industrial Use of Biomass (INRO). The aim of the initiative is to reach an agreement with industrial companies on voluntary certification of renewable raw materials.

Green Deal

ISCC is recognised by the Dutch Green Deal “green certificates” for sustainable biomass in chemical products and plastics. The Green Deal approach in the Netherlands is an accessible way for companies to work with the Central Government on green growth and social issues.

Textile Exchange

Textile Exchange is a global non-profit organisation promoting sustainable practices in the textile value chain. ISCC is recognised as a sustainable initiative under its “2025 Sustainable Cotton Challenge,” which encourages brands to commit to sourcing 100% of their cotton from the most sustainable sources.

Post-consumer Plastic Recycled Content Labeling Policy

ISCC PLUS is recognised in Korea under the Post-consumer Plastic Recycled Content Labeling Policy. In addition, ISCC signed an MoU with Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), an organisation under the Ministry of Environment. K-eco and ISCC are working together to establish a system for certifying recycled materials usage in Korea.

SAI Platform

The SAI Platform is the leading global initiative for sustainable agriculture within the food and drink value chain. It has created the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA), a tool to evaluate and enhance farms’ sustainability.

Following the 2023 FSA 3.0 re-benchmarking, ISCC PLUS and ISCC EU have been recognised as equivalent to the FSA Gold level – meeting 100% of essential and intermediate criteria, and 82% of advanced criteria against the FSA 3.0. This recognition is globally applicable, allowing ISCC System Users to sell their ISCC-compliant products as “Equivalent to FSA 3.0 Gold.”

Unilever Sustainable Agricultural Principles​

ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS are accepted schemes under the Unilever Sustainable Agricultural Principles (SAP), globally applicable to all arable commodity crops.

Coca-Cola company’s principles for sustainable agriculture (PSA)

ISCC PLUS is approved as a “leader standard” under the Coca-Cola Company’s principles for sustainable agriculture (PSA) for the commodities cane sugar and HCFS (corn), as it has successfully benchmarked against the SAI farm sustainability assessment at the gold level.

Diageo’s sustainable agricultural sourcing requirements

ISCC is compliant with Diageo’s sustainable agricultural sourcing requirements. Diageo’s agriculture guidelines aim to make agricultural supply chains economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

The Donau Soja Organisation promotes sustainable, deforestation-free and non-GM soya production in Europe to strengthen regional and resilient European supply chains. ISCC is recognised as an alternative sustainability standard.

Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)

ISCC PLUS is recognised under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Switzerland and Indonesia for the procurement of sustainable palm oil.

Food for Biodiversity

Food for Biodiversity has compared the basic criteria for biodiversity with the criteria of our ISCC standard. The operations we certify currently meet over 70% of the criteria (as of 2025) and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and its ecosystem services. This is why our standard is recommended by Food for Biodiversity.

Profundo

Profundo, representing WWF and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Netherlands, conducted an updated benchmark analysis (in 2023) comparing the European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation Soy Sourcing Guidelines (FEFAC SSG) with Voluntary Standard Systems (VSS), including ISCC EU and PLUS, both emerging as best-in-class standards.

Soy Network Switzerland

The Soy Network Switzerland supports the cultivation and marketing of responsibly produced soy for feed production. The aim of the network is for at least 90% of soy for the Swiss market to be responsibly produced. ISCC PLUS has been accepted as core standard.

Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)

In 2022, ASC approved ISCC PLUS as a low-risk third-party certification scheme for plant-based primary raw materials, taking into account various due diligence risk factors in feed production supply chains.

The Forum for Sustainable Palm Oil (FONAP) accepts the ISCC certification system for the implementation of its voluntary commitment. FONAP’s purpose is to promote sustainable palm oil production by increasing the use of certified sustainable palm oil in food, feed and chemical products.
